"Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile." Vince Lombardi
  • The problem you want to help solve?
The ADY Leaders Club wants to guarantee that Youth Development programs, like Leaders Club and Y Club, do not get cut due to low funding and low fund raising. Without youth development programs, teens like myself and my friends would lose great, positive role models and the leadership training that we receive at the YMCA. Without programs like Leaders Club teens would also lose community service hours and avenues. We would be afforded less opportunities and community service activities as well. The ADY Partner With Youth Campaign can solve this. If we can reach our goal of $14,000 by raising $3,000 more, our program would have the funds to be able to continue for another year.
  • Why is it important?
The ADY Partner With Youth Campaign is important because it impacts the lives of more than 50 teenagers, their families, and the Ashford Dunwoody YMCA. Our Leaders Club supports our YMCA and its members in many ways, and if our club were to deteriorate and become too expensive to fund, our YMCA would lose many very bright and dedicated teens with great leadership potential.
  • Who will benefit?
If the ADY Partner With Youth Campaign reaches its goal of $3,000 our entire community will benefit. Prices would not double for teen Leaders trying to gain more leadership experience by traveling on International Excursions, to Winter Blue Ridge, or to summer Blue Ridge Leaders School. Our Leaders Club would also be able to continue serving the needs of our YMCA by refereeing YMCA youth sports, and hosting overnights for children. In these ways and more, hundreds of teens and their families would benefit from our service.
  • What will you be doing?
In striving to reach our goal, the ADY Leaders Club held a Car Wash on Saturday August 27, 2011 at our YMCA. We were able to raise $300. We will continue serving our community by hosting youth overnights and Parent's Nights Out in order to raise money and gain awareness of our active Leaders Club.
