Project Additional Details
Everyone is welcome and appreciated!~
  • The problem you want to help solve?
Grants and donations would all go to Flood and Chattahoochee HS. Where the money will be used to help with projects and events.
  • Why is it important?
Because homelessness is a big problem. Flood does an amazing job in providing students and adults the opportunity in being part of the generation that could make a change. And the best thing about flood is, it's addicting. You go to a project to serve others, but in the end, you are being served. The feeling you get after serving ANY project with us is just.. one of a kind. No other organization can ever give you that feeling which makes flood even more PHENOMENAL. So students will always come back-- not because they need the last 2 Beta hours, but because they sincerely want to. Another question I frequently get asked is, what does Flood stand for? Flood is actually just short for Flood Student Missions, but flood basically means to "flood" the community with service. We are based on the foundation of Matthew 20:26-28 “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Our vision is for students to realize their call and responsibility to become servant leaders and follow the model Christ has set for us. By serving, students make lasting impacts on their communities and in turn, spread the love and word of Christ. And most importantly, our mission is to provide local mission opportunities for students to saturate their communities with hearts and hands of Christ allows this cultivation process to take place. Flood exists to cultivate servant hearts in students!
  • Who will benefit?
ALL. Students who serve, and the people being served. Simple as that!
  • What are the goals of the project?
Help homeless people and increase our outreach to the community.
  • What do you hope to accomplish by the end of this project?
Projects occur on a monthly basis throughout the school year. Flood student missions will provide opportunities for students to serve for many years. Each month flood offers 3-4 projects targeting the homeless in Atlanta. Funds raised will be used for meals and snacks for the homeless outreach projects we have. Approximately 20-30 students serve every month and more than 400 homeless people are impacted each month by our homeless outreach efforts.
  • What will you be doing?
I will be helping in recruiting others to serve. I will also participate in the events that are being held to spread the word about Flood. Flood is a non-profit organization that offers young adults (and adults!) the opportunity to serve others and, without knowing it, themselves as well. Flood is mainly about reaching out to the homeless. We have many projects revolved around doing things for the people without homes. My favorite 2 projects are Street Reach & The Garden! Street Reach was my first project, and I eventually became the leader for it! This is the project that got me involved with flood. Street reach is so great because you literally approach homeless people at Hurt Park, by Georgia State. We try to go there twice a month, with as many volunteers as we can get. When we get there, we hand out little snack bags. They usually have a water and a few snacks in them-- all individually hand packed. And because we go there every month, the people there have become fond of us, and we start to build friendships! The Garden is also like that. The Garden is an actual shelter for women and children. They are actually pretty supplied in food and clothes, but they really looove it when we bring some nice fancy dinner for them! They especially like Chinese and chicken! We'll bring the food, cook it, and while it's cooking, play with the children there! All the children are so precious. They are the cutest kids that anyone could ever meet!
