- The problem you want to help solve?
Giving fun, engaging volunteer opportunities to young people with special needs and disabilities. Helping teens to find and fuel their civic passion. Allowing young people to make a difference and get rewarded for great work!
- Why is it important?
This project is important because it will be a giant step towards creating both on-line and experiential learning environments for youth. As students learn about the importance of civic duty, serving others and civic stewardship they will get involved in the nonprofits they are passionate about!
- Who will benefit?
The primary beneficiaries of this project will be youth across America. Through GivingPoint, youth will work with parents, teachers, nonprofits, businesses and local civic leaders throughout every phase of their GivingPoint experience. Teens will learn best practices in how to help the causes they care about and serve.
- What are the goals of the project?
Our goals are:
1) Teach a Community How to Find their Passion and Give Back
- We will provide students with the resources and tools they need to get fully engaged and take action to address critical issues
2) Unite Students and Bury Hate:
- We will teach the values of dignity and respect - affirming the personal value and worth of every individual. They will learn to appreciate each other, get real-world experiences, and take part in service projects that benefit the entire community.
3) Leverage Innovative Technology to Support Their Volunteer Efforts:
- Students will use GivingPoint's online platform to e-learn about critical issues in society. They will earn points for volunteering, and apply for grants to fund their community projects.
- What do you hope to accomplish by the end of this project?
Help Youth:
Become EMPOWERED with knowledge. Have FUN using leadership to enrich your school and fund field trips. Earn REWARDS for blogging about your experiences. Get active and WIN points for volunteering. Live healthy by helping your COMMUNITY. CREATE & build your civic transcript as you
CHANGE THE WORLD.
- What will you be doing?
Students are being asked to use their unique skills and talents in leadership roles to make their service learning project a success. We will be working with teens to help the find their passion and get more engaged in service. Teens will document, record, verify and get rewarded for serving their community.
