YMCA Youth Initiatives

Our Teen Initiatives believes that teenagers can be a powerful force for good in our community. We believe that we can change tereotypes and perceptions by raising today’s cultural expectations of teenagers. We also believe that we can build teenagers into community leaders by treating them as assets not outreach.

There are three pillars we focus on: Diversity, Capacity, Responsibility. We want to center an ever increasing diversity of teenagers round one common mission of community leadership. We are helping teens serve in higher capacities in the capacities they are already in, and we want to instill in them a responsibility to serve and be an example for the generation behind them.

We do this through service projects and labs. Service projects include helping under-resourced communities in Atlanta and the world. Our labs are designed to equip teens with the skills and resources they need to better their lifestyles and our culture. We also have numerous events and retreats throughout the year to provide continuing education and fellowship to ensure that teens remain plugged into the community and our programs.

Our goal is to provide teens with experience and tools to be the best leaders they can be. Our passion is to help teens pursue their passions. Our program will provide teens with credentials that will give them an advantage when applying for jobs and becoming an influence in our culture.
