The frequency and scale of disasters are increasing and developing countries are the hardest hit. This rise is caused almost entirely by an increase in weather-related disasters.

In 2008, natural disasters killed 220,000 people and impacted more than 7 million people in 45 countries. Today, 3 million people in 8 countries are still affected by the 2004 tsunami. When a disaster strikes, communities need help! They need support to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.
