Ever since I was a child, my parents raised me to be courteous and generous to others. To reinforce her own own teachings, I was constantly made to participate in many volunteer programsand concession stands growing up. Looking back when I was younger, I remember thinking to myself if I'm actually making a difference. Surely even if I wasn't there, the job still would have been finished right?I had this mindset until I volunteered through my church to take a trip to Alabama to construct homes for some of the elderly during the summer. At that time, I was a rising junoir. I simply wanted to go just for the college credit and the fact that I would be able to get away from my parents an entire week. While I was there, I began to realize that I felt some sense of satisfaction in my work, despite my arms feeling like jelly due to the constant lifting of wood. I even grew closer to my church community! It was until that time when I realized that I am making a difference in the world.

A few months ago, Mahalo CEO and web presence Jason Calacanis sent out a message to his 17,000+ email subscribers railing against the practice of charging startups to pitch to angel investors. The tirade garnered a huge pass4sure CISAresponse, and most of all, crystallized the fact that Jason was going to do something about it. His activity since then is affirmation of why an entrepreneurial pass4sure 642-262 mindset that leverages resources, builds coalitions, pass4sure 642-357and doesn't wait for permission is such a disruptive force.The basic injustice that Jason was so angry about was the notion that Angel investors (in his parlance the 'rich people') would charge the 'poor people' (the startups) $1000-$6000 for a 10-15 minute pitch slot. He considered this (and I agree) predatory behavior. What's worse, many of those rooms were filled not with grade A angel investors pass4sure 646-985(the group likely to make seed investments in new companies), but vendors and service providers who wanted to rope the startups in for legal work, etc.
Only something as special as volunteering could make someone "welcome" the pain. Great job
Thanks =]
I kinda typed this all in a rush =o
Good job Chris and btw you are still a rising junior :P and u used my pic for ur propic HAHAHAH
Wow! I had the same experience. Volunteering seems so meaningless, and then you do it, and you see the difference you make. Keep making a difference! What you do matters so much!
Great post! It's so amazing how helping others can help us in return. Keep up the great work! Sounds like you have an amazing family and group of friends behind you!
