Yesterday, July 22nd, 2010, i went to feed the hungry. We went to Picnic in the Park, which is right now has a lot of political problems. Going i was really worried about the whole thing, i thought that i was going to stand there and not be able to talk to them like i wanted to be able to. I went and talked to the first person i saw, i asked some questions of him and he asked some questions of me, we really didn't connect. This story happened a few times to me. I then decided to go help serve food. After this was done i saw one man sitting quietly eating by himself. I thought i would try it again. I went up to him and started a conversation. WE connected immediately, we spoke about schooling, the places I've lived and the places he has lived. He told me he has moved around all over the place taking any job possible, mostly in the construction area. I loved talking to this man because he truly was trying to get back on his feet, he knew that life was not over and that everything is possible. He truly showed me the mindset Attitude of Gratitude. I left almost in tears after our conversation. All it took was one connection to make the difference, i spoke to so many people and made no connection, but after talking to this man i believe we made a strong connection. He made a very big impact on me and i have been thinking about him since we left, I just hope that I brought some joy and love to his life. This was an amazing experience and I am definitely going to go do many more service projects in the future.
